Event Vehicles: A Comprehensive Guide

Picking the vehicle for your event can in some ways make or break your day. The right size, style and service conditions are imperative, so lets keep it simple.

Types of vehicles

Personal luxury vehicles: This includes classic restored, unique, luxury brands. Ideal for no bridal party weddings, elopements and romantic dates. Examples are Turo and Drive Share.

Stretch limousines: While these are fading in popularity there is a timeless elegance to the stretch. Just be aware of your outfit and the scooching down the bench seating.

Party buses: The current most popular event vehicle. Great for midsized parties for nearly all occasions. No scooching needed!

Shuttle buses / Motor coaches: Primarily used for guest shuttling. These are usually forward facing seats with minimal extras. Great for weddings that utilize hotel room blocks.

Situations you might want to rent a vehicle

  • Photoshoots

  • Small groups: concerts, birthdays, bar hopping, Bachelor/Bachelorette, sports outings, etc.

  • Wedding / rehearsal transportation

  • Guest / audience shuttling

  • Personal night outs with your partner

How to find the right company

  • USDOT- Vehicles over 7 passengers should be registered within USDOT (United states department of transportation) Using either their company name, MDOT or USDOT number you can search their status.

  • Reviews, for both the companies and to find great drivers within the company. I personally look at the newest. These are live updates on what the company is doing now and many people will shout out the driver by name with their experience.

  • Companies who service your area. always look or ask for a companies radius of service. some companies will drive where ever you want but travel fees are real and can get very expensive depending on your stop locations relative to the companies fleet.

  • REMEMBER: Each company is different in their services and time requirements

What to expect from your drivers

  • Phone contact to call / Text - Day of only. If you have questions before and after your reservation contact the office.

  • Ask if tip is included when booking, if not ask what the gratuity average for your service type.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for a driver who matches your groups’ energy. Would you like a quiet night or a true party vibe? A driver who matches the energy can only add to your ride!

Be a good passenger

  • Don't get black out drunk and destroy the vehicle.

  • Adding too much / obstructive decor to the inside of the vehicle could potentially be distracting to the drivers. Balloons that float into the driver cabin is not the one.

  • Asking illegal or against policy things of your driver. They aren’t a narc but they aren’t your plug either.

  • Not understanding that traffic is unpredictable. Timing is definitely crucial to most events and most transportation companies that that into account when making your reservation. However the old act of god is a thing sometimes and unforeseen obstacles can occur.

You can now go with confidence with the knowledge that you know how to find and enjoy the best matching transportation comany.
